fearless

"To me, “FEARLESS” is not the absence of fear. It’s not being completely unafraid. To me, FEARLESS is having fears. FEARLESS is having doubts. Lots of them. To me, FEARLESS is living in spite of those things that scare you to death. FEARLESS is falling madly in love again, even though you’ve been hurt before. FEARLESS is walking into your freshmen year of high school at fifteen. FEARLESS is getting back up and fighting for what you want over and over again… even though every time you’ve tried before, you’ve lost. It’s FEARLESS to have faith that someday things will change. FEARLESS is having the courage to say goodbye to someone who only hurts you, even if you can’t breathe without them. I think it’s FEARLESS to fall for your best friend, even though he’s in love with someone else. And when someone apologizes to you enough times for things they’ll never stop doing, I think it’s FEARLESS to stop believing them. It’s FEARLESS to say “you’re NOT sorry”, and walk away. I think loving someone despite what people think is FEARLESS. I think allowing yourself to cry on the bathroom floor is FEARLESS. Letting go is FEARLESS. Then, moving on and being alright…That’s FEARLESS too. But no matter what love throws at you, you have to believe in it. You have to believe in love stories and prince charmings and happily ever after. That’s why I write these songs. Because I think love is FEARLESS."

per·se·ver·ance/ˌpərsəˈvi(ə)rəns/ Noun: Steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. Continuance in a state of grace leading finally to a state of glory.

This is Alex. Someone who has become an important part of my life. When I found out a few months ago that Alex had been diagnosed with cancer for the second time, I wanted to do something. I thought I could help out and make his life a little easier. What I didn't realize was that he is the one helping me. I've never met someone like him. He lives in pain everyday and yet, you never hear him complain. He's always happy and saying things to make others feel better. He's positive and optimistic about life even with everything he's been through. He's a fighter and I know he's going to make it through this.

I took Alex to a Jazz game and got him hooked. We even have the same favorite player-- Gordon Hayward :) GO JAZZ!!!

Feliz Navidad!

The annual vacation for Christmas to Mazatlan, Mexico! This trip to Mazatlan was very special. We had the opportunity to visit 3 different orphanages-- Ciudad a los Ninos, Orfanatorio Maz and Salvation Army Children's Home. We watched the children open Christmas presents and got to spend a few hours with them. It is amazing to see how grateful and loving they are. We were also invited to watch the children from Salvation Army at a special performance where they did 8 traditional dances. We had to choke back tears sometimes at hearing a few of the kids stories and backgrounds. These children hold a special place in all of our hearts. We're so blessed to be able to experience this each Christmas and can't wait to see them again over Spring Break! These are precious memories we will never forget.
